I know that a professor is not supposed to have one, but the underground economy supplying lives outside of the lab is well and strong.
It may not be much of a life, but it definitely exists.
With that in mind, here are some things that I like:
How about a slideshows
of some of the places I have been?
Want to know the Weather
in Athens at the moment? (or I'll just tell you:
cloudy and rain :-)

---- My Abridged Life ----
I was born in Timmins,
Ontario, on a cold winter's day (actually November, but in Timmins
that means 4 ft of snow). I was moved against my will at the tender age
of 10 months to North Bay, Ontario
(typical of NB, situated on a large scenic lake, they have a
live camera feed of the ugly intersection in front of city hall).
Since I was in North Bay, nothing too exciting happened for the next 18 years.
Actually, I attended West Ferris Secondary School,
missing rediculous amounts of school traveling as part of the Drama Club.
At this point, I left to attend the University of Waterloo in the city of
Waterloo(strangely so). I graduated with an honours degree in
Biology in 1992.
Then, in a fit of soul searching, I visited Europe
for a summer (highly recommended in my own opinion). After returning home in an unemployable state, I decided to get
another degree, this one a BA in Speech Communication,
which to those who know me, probably seems rather amusing. With a decision to attend graduate school, I took into account my
research background in terrestrial ecology and wildlife biology
(black
bears and spruce
budworm) and started my research career in a field that I had no background in whatsoever ... biological oceanography with
John Roff at the University of Guelph
(in association with the GIROQ in Quebec).
Six years are wisked away, but I exit with my PhD and my lovely spouse
Kim Cuddington. A postdoc at UConn's
Marine Sciences department in Groton with
Jim Kremer was next, having fun with
Macs and shallow estuaries.
Then to Berkeley, to work with the effervescent Zack Powell
and learn the frustrations and joy of linux.
Kim and I now have dual (yes it is possible) faculty positions at Ohio University,
in the Department of Biological Sciences in Athens Ohio.
